Manage business operations to ensure the high standards of KACU’s live programming and related activities. The KACU Director of Operations and Programming oversees radio programming and part-time staff to fulfill station objectives for radio operations.
Basic Responsibilities
Oversee radio operations for KACU which are broadcast on-air at 89.5 FM and streaming to kacu.org and the KACU Mobile App
Oversee scheduling and digital publishing of local content
Manage billing and financial reporting for business operations
Assist with on-air fundraising and coordinate all on-air fundraising promos and logs
Oversee community events calendar and maintain the KACU Mobile App
Maintain office operations
Essential Duties:

A. Oversee radio programming and operations for KACU which are broadcast on-air at 89.5 FM and simulcast to kacu.org and the KACU Mobile App
1. Manage radio automation systems including BSI Simian, Content Depot, PRX and digital content systems for KACU
2. Be on call as primary responder during emergency situations, power outages or other disruptive events
3. Work with Engineer to address technical issues
4. Maintain a schedule for Production 1 usage, and coordinate with JMC on Podcast suites
5. Maintain, select, promote and implement KACU podcasts on kacu.org and Apple Podcasts
6. Hire, train and mentor part-time radio staff including performance reviews, scheduling and delegating automation tasks as needed
7. Produce daily logs for on-air underwriting, promos and other continuity
8. Coordinate daily newscast guidance for on-air hosts
9. Prepare special schedules for holiday programming and fundraising weeks
10. Update KACU.org with local news and content
11. Coordinate social media with news and development departments
11. Coordinate production of West Texas Roots
12. Help the general manager ensure compliance with all FCC and SoundExchange requirements
13. Fill in for on-air shifts as needed
B. Manage billing and financial reporting for business operations
1. Send invoices to underwriters
2. Process accounts payable, receivable and billing to maintain station budget
3. Provide detailed financial records for annual audit
C. Assist with on-air fundraising and coordinate all on-air fundraising promos and logs
1. Share in the on-air fundraising duties with other staff
2. Create and implement all on-air fundraising promotionals including coordinating with NPR to create custom promos
3. Maintain pledge logs within Natural Log and adjust them as necessary based on new programming or program clock updates
D. Update community events calendar and maintain the KACU Mobile App
1. Participate in NPR trainings to keep kacu.org and the KACU Mobile App up to date
2. Write and edit event information for the online community calendar
3. Write, maintain and edit This Week in Abilene
4. Maintain the KACU Mobile App by updating underwriting, creating push-notifications, and data analysis
E. Maintain office operations
1. Order office supplies
2. Coordinate with KACU’s Engineer, ACU IT, or ACU Facilities Management to maintain computer equipment and other station needs
3. Help prepare for events, coordinating student help, collaborating with the development director on preparation of the space
4. Receive and send mail

Qualifications:
Professional
1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience preferred
2. Minimum two-years experience in broadcasting required
3. Candidates with a master’s degree in journalism and mass communication may have the opportunity to teach courses as an adjunct instructor in the JMC department.
Personal
1. Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
2. Supervisory skills preferred
Physical Demands
A. Ability to lift and move boxes and equipment not to exceed 40lbs
B. Speaking on-air for up to six hours per day during membership campaigns
