The Scholarly Engagement Specialist will support faculty and students in enhancing their understanding and execution of scholarly activities at Parker University. This role focuses on promoting scholarly endeavors, facilitating scholarly and scholastic engagement, providing resources and mentorship, as well as formulating policies related to scholarly conduct and operations.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Support and Mentorship
& Provide guidance and mentorship to faculty and students in understanding and executing scholarly activities.
& Mentor faculty and students in the development of scholarly proposals, publications, and presentations.

Promotion of Scholarly Endeavors
& Develop and implement initiatives to promote scholarly engagement and collaboration among faculty and students.
& Organize workshops, seminars, and events to enhance awareness and participation in scholarly activities.
& Participate in university events as requested.
& Maintains knowledge of current trends in education innovation, teaching effectiveness, research, and faculty development resources. Engages with
faculty to share current trends and resources and stimulate innovative teaching, learning, and research approaches.

Assessment of Scholarly Outputs
& Evaluate the number, quality, and impact of scholarly outputs produced by faculty and students.
& Collaborate with academic departments to track and report on scholarly productivity and outcomes.

Resource Development
& Identify and provide access to resources, tools, and support services that facilitate scholarly research and engagement.
& Create and maintain a repository of best practices, guidelines, and opportunities for scholarly activities.

Policy Formulation:
& Develop, review, and implement policies related to scholarly conduct, research ethics, and operational procedures.
Collaboration and Networking:
& Foster partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance scholarly engagement and research opportunities.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Teaching, Learning, and Information Resources.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

EDUCATION/EXPERTISE:

  • Master’s degree required; terminal degree preferred. A health profession degree (e.g. DC, DO, MD, PT, RN) with experience in clinical practice is a plus.

  • Five years’ experience working in a related higher education setting with a demonstrated understanding of how higher educational institutions operate, including an understanding of the strategic challenges and knowledge of formal structures.

  • Proficient in managing and using technology to provide training, maintain records, analyze data, and conduct research.

JOB REQUIREMENT/SKILL/ETC.:

  • Manage multiple simultaneous projects with time pressures and frequent interruptions.

  • Maintains effective interpersonal relationships across programs, personalities, and departments.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; Demonstrated strong written skills for peer-reviewed publications.

  • Proven research design and methods abilities, including human participant protection requirements, data analyses, and presentations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers both orally and in written format.

  • Visual acuity to use a keyboard and view a computer terminal; Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.

  • Job is sedentary requiring work hours sitting in a chair though it may require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand and walk.

  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry and/or move light to medium weight up to twelve (12) pounds and/or exert up to twelve (12) pounds of force.

  • Responsibility to work in a safe manner in a busy environment.
