Infusion Registered Nurse (RN)Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality patient care in a specialty infusion and oncology/hematology clinic environment. Under minimal supervision, the RN will administer infusion therapies, assess patient needs, provide education, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure continuity of care. The ideal candidate will have infusion experience treating chronic illnesses, with chemotherapy experience highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote continuity of patient care consistent with established standards and practices
- Assess patient and family needs and provide education and instructional materials as appropriate
- Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician
- Administer medications and blood products using proper dosage, route, timing, and technique
- Administer infusion therapies including:
- Chemotherapy
- IVIG
- Iron infusions
- Immunotherapy
- Hydration therapy
- Ensure pre-authorizations and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to therapy administration when applicable
- Facilitate dose modifications by:
- Assessing patient condition and laboratory results
- Reviewing treatment plans and protocols
- Calculating doses
- Consulting physicians regarding dosage changes, symptom management, and treatment concerns
- Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central line catheter devices
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and treatments provided
- Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture
- Support and adhere to company Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, and Business Standards
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient and family care needs
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program; BSN preferred
- Active RN license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state
- Minimum of 1 year of experience administering infusion therapies as an RN
- Chemotherapy administration experience highly preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and patient education abilities
Working Conditions
The work environment is representative of a specialty oncology/hematology clinic setting. Employees may be exposed to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to a clinical infusion environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Full range of body motion including lifting, handling patients, and manual dexterity
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 40 lbs
- Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing
- Strong hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills required
