A well-established global manufacturing company is seeking an IT Support Administrator to join the team. This is a collaborative environment with strong investment in technology and IT security standards. The IT Support Administrator is responsible for delivering onsite technical support for end users, including hands-on troubleshooting of hardware, software, and workstation issues, as well as supporting network and systems teams on onsite infrastructure tasks.

Salary: $80,000/yr
Location: Houston, TX – ON SITE
Type of Position: Temp-to-Hire

Responsibilities:
Level I

  • Install operating system software, patches, and upgrades.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve basic system hardware and software issues.
  • Image, configure, issue, and maintain user workstations, laptops, and tablets.
  • Configure, issue, and maintain user equipment such as mobile devices, telephones, cameras, USB storage devices, and VPN cards.
  • Handle support requests via service desk tickets, phone, email, or walk-ins.
  • Deploy and maintain printers and MFP devices.
  • Install and maintain off-the-shelf business applications (Microsoft Office, Adobe, third-party tools).
  • Resolve end-user network connectivity issues and communicate with network personnel.
  • Create and maintain Active Directory Users and Computer accounts following security policies.
  • Handle exiting employee off-boarding processes, including account deletion, legal holds, employee transfer tasks, and return/storage of IT equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of technical equipment.
  • Support conference room and video teleconferencing (VTC) systems, including installations and maintenance.
  • Create VPN accounts, issue smart cards, and install client/keys on user computers.
  • Stay informed on current technological trends and recommend changes or upgrades.
  • Assist the network and systems teams with onsite infrastructure tasks, equipment installation, and operational needs.
  • Protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Level II (includes all Level I duties, plus)
  • Configure, optimize, fine-tune, and monitor operating system software and servers.
  • Coordinate with vendors to support equipment purchases or service contracts.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and environment-specific procedures.
  • Perform intermediate network troubleshooting (DNS/DHCP, VLAN connectivity, switch port issues) and coordinate escalations with network engineering.
  • Install, cable, label, and validate network and server infrastructure components (switches, access points, UPS, racks/cabinets) following site standards.
  • Support server and virtualization operations under direction (rack/stack, iDRAC/iLO access, console/KVM work, basic validation testing and change implementation).
  • Perform routine server room checks and maintenance tasks (capacity/health checks, cabling hygiene, patching support windows, and documenting findings).
  • Assist with endpoint and server security controls (local firewall validation, AV/EDR health checks, and remediation steps) in alignment with IT security standards.

Level III (includes all Level II duties, plus)

  • Conduct advanced system troubleshooting, optimization, and monitoring for Windows environments.
  • Lead or guide decisions around technology changes, upgrades, and improvements.
  • Manage complex onsite infrastructure tasks and collaborate closely with network and systems teams on higher-level implementations.
  • Provide oversight on imaging, deploying, optimizing, and maintaining workstations and server environments at an expert level.
  • Contribute to IT strategy discussions and mentor junior staff.
  • Apply deep expertise in IT security, vulnerabilities, and protection methods to ensure systems remain aligned with IT security standards.
  • Lead onsite network and server infrastructure activities, including coordinating maintenance windows, implementing approved changes, and validating post-change service health.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting across network and server layers (routing/VLAN/path issues, authentication/AD dependencies, DNS/DHCP, certificate impacts) and drive issues through to resolution.
  • Provide technical leadership for server infrastructure lifecycle tasks (hardware refresh coordination, rack/stack standards, firmware planning support, backup/restore validation, and disaster recovery readiness checks).
  • Maintain and improve infrastructure documentation (network closets/server room diagrams, IP addressing references, rack elevations, cabling standards) and ensure updates after changes.
  • Partner with network and systems teams to define onsite standards and continuously improve monitoring, performance, and resiliency of LAN/WAN and server services.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline OR Associate's degree OR 4 years experience in lieu of degree
  • 3 years of experience in a similar IT support role within a corporate setting
  • Current technical certification in Microsoft technologies (MCSE/MCSA), A , Server , Network , or Security preferred
  • Experience with Active Directory, Windows OS, and enterprise endpoint management
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and system documentation
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to work effectively across teams and with end users at all levels
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 5% of the time
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license and passport
