Chevron operates a leading renewable fuels business that helps to measure and reduce its carbon intensity in the transportation sector and other market segments. The enterprise optimization team focuses on expanding the portfolio of lower-carbon fuel pathways and supports developing innovative feedstocks. The LCA Specialist role is a critical part of the team and will coordinate data collection, participate in compliance audits, work on lifecycle analysis modelling, and drive forward lower carbon projects. The LCA Specialist will work in state, federal, and international regulatory programs in the United States and Canada.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Ongoing maintenance and collection of information for key datasets for compliance
  • Gathering and submitting information for audits and compliance requirements for the California Low Carbon Fuel Standard, Oregon Clean Fuels Program, Washington Clean Fuel Standard, New Mexico Clean Transportation Fuel Program, Canadian provincial programs and Canadian Clean Fuel Regulations
  • Working with Lifecycle Analysis models for compliance programs to calculate fuel carbon intensity scores and estimates for components of fuel lifecycles
  • Collaboration to advise internal and external stakeholders about regulatory developments and interpretation of key compliance requirements
  • Aggregating and validating greenhouse gas for enterprise sustainability reporting
  • Ability to formally communicate with internal and external parties
  • Maintain a high level of recordkeeping for sustainability compliance documentation
  • Working consistently in Excel and other accounting software to organize information and perform analysis. High attention to detail and focus required

Required Qualifications:

  • Education - Chemical engineering, Environmental engineering, or related degree
  • Proficiency in English
  • 3 years working with biofuel lifecycle models or adjacent fields or equivalent educational background
  • Very good to excellent Excel skills
  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of work activities
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in different locations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education / Certifications – experience working with any version of the Argonne GREET model, OpenLCA, or GHGenius
  • Quantified experience – 5 years working with biofuels data, accounting, and compliance programs
  • Experience with data analysis, preparation, visualization, and dataset manipulation


Relocation Options:

Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.
