This position provides support to Animal Services by performing general office work.
The employee will have the responsibility of:
Greeting patrons and vendors, instructing them on visitor rules, shelter policies and programs, as well as local animal welfare information
Answering phone calls, checking voicemails, emails, and returning calls and emails
Monitoring telephone and operating multi-channel public safety radio system
Performing customer service duties related to intake, processing, documentation of animals, taking photographs for shelter records, adoption listings, and official social media or promotional platforms
Preparing and processing materials/forms and payments using shelter software
Assisting customers with adoption process
Reviewing reports, forms, transactions, and records for accuracy and completeness
Assisting with lost and found pet reports and reunification efforts
Cleaning and sanitizing the front office area and ensuring the area is neat
Completing miscellaneous tasks such as receiving deliveries, loading and unloading trucks, accepting and organizing donations, and organizing supplies for shelter
Occasionally attending events which are off site and after hours
Assisting Animal Care Specialists by cleaning and sanitizing kennels, cages, and other critical areas in and around facility
Maintaining departmental equipment, supplies, and facilities
The work environment will require the employee to:
Be exposed to waste and blood, unpleasant smells, and noisy environment
Be subjected to animal bites, vicious and/or aggressive animals, and communicable diseases from animals
Be exposed to disinfecting chemicals

Required Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Graduation from high school or equivalent; and,
One (1) year related experience
Any equivalent combination of education and experience
Special Requirements:
Must have a valid Texas drivers license or obtain one by date of hire
Must be able to take rabies, pre-exposure vaccination series
Ability to work a flexible schedule, to include evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays
