ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.- Plans, supervises and monitors the work park personnel; plans, schedules and assigns work; instructs and trains employees in proper methods and procedures; checks and approves work in progress and upon completion; makes recommendations regarding employee job performance and conducts performance evaluations; ensures the smooth operation of park maintenance.
- Prioritizes and assigns work daily and ensures the employees have necessary supplies and equipment in order to perform the work.
- Maintenance inventory of supplies and equipment; orders items and signs requisitions; purchase items at a fair in and reasonable price for the value.
- Prepares and maintains accurate personnel records such as sick and annual leave; prepares employee payroll records in an accurate and timely manner.
- Receives and responds to phone calls from the public; answers questions and provides accurate and complete information; projects a positive and professional image of the park system.
- Conducts, attends and participates in staff meetings regularly; maintains awareness and knowledge of concerns, topics and issues relevant to park administration.
- Supervises, monitors and inspects the work sites of crew leaders and equipment operators; determines priorities and the next day's assignments.
- Prepares and maintains accurate reports and records in a timely manner.
- Ensures employees work is in compliance with departmental polices and procedures and local, state and federal rules and regulations governing the same.
- Monitors the operations of the community program on weekends.
- Serves on-call 24-hours a day to respond to emergencies and to resolve operational problems.
- Will be required to drive a City vehicle for city business use.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Minimum Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- At least ten (10) years of experience performing park maintenance work of which at least two (2) years were in a supervisory capacity
- Valid Licenses and Certifications

- Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
As part of the minimum requirements for all positions with the City of Laredo, a thorough background check and certified school transcripts will be required from all applicants who are offered employment.
Effective February 24, 1997, all selected applicants are required to undergo a drug and alcohol test prior to employment.
