Job Description


Assists the Fiscal Management Division with grant management, budget preparation, and other financial activities. Prepares fiscal reporting and support documentation for grant applications, processes invoices and travel logs, and evaluates budget proposals and fundings requests

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

  • Prepares fiscal reporting and support documentation reports for various grants on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Executes duties pertaining to active budgets and the implementation for grant awards including preparing budget alignments, revised budgets, and other fiscal reports.
  • Processes incoming invoices, travel logs, transfers, and other forms in a timely manner.
  • Evaluates budget proposals and funding requests.
  • Assists program supervisors in managing grant activity; monitors and analyzes budgets.
  • Performs related work as required.

  • Knowledge of modern office procedures and methods including computers and applicable software
  • Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
    • Knowledge of budget summary and contractual obligations for each grant project

    • Knowledge of city processes-travel policy, accounts payable policies and procedures, and budget transfer processes
    • Knowledge of internal policies and procedure

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical Effort Requirements Position will have the following exposures

  • Office or similar indoor environment, relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards.
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited - college or university in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

- Council of Higher Education Accreditation (C.H.E.A.)

Valid Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
