THIS IS AN INTERNAL RECRUITMENT OPEN ONLY TO CURRENT CITY OF ROUND ROCK EMPLOYEES

Under general supervision, the Supervisor oversees Water or Wastewater Plant staff and operational activities related to the operation and repair of treatment facilities in compliance with TCEQ and EPA regulations. Inspect treatment facilities and review all operational data to ensure maximum operational efficiency.

Posted range is the starting salary. Pay rate offered is based on experience.

The Hiring Pay Range for this position is $64,480 to $78,000 annually.

Examples of Duties

  • Applies operational procedures by inspecting treatment plant components; uses computer trends and reporting tools; performs and inspects routine and non-routine troubleshooting on monitoring equipment; orders and installs setup functions.
  • Supervises employees; creates and monitors the staff schedule; executes the city's performance management system by providing performance feedback and coaching to employees; participates in employee selection and discipline; and engages in preparation and implementation of the division budget.
  • Reviews lab results; sets chemical feeds; encourages input from operators and dispenses them with resources to improve operations; works with an integrator to convert chemical feeds and minimize potential overfeeding of chemicals; collaborates with operators and the integrator to optimize the treatment processes using technology and the SCADA system.
  • Communicates with all utility personnel regarding plant operation optimal set points; plans and installs equipment and instruments that can simplify and clarify plant operations; responds to customer calls over the phone.
  • Monitors inventory levels of chemicals; orders and maintains supply of all treatment chemicals; keeps an adequate supply of repair and replacement parts for equipment used in the treatment facilities; forecasts the need for the replacement of treatment plant equipment and components.
  • Performs SCADA technical support with Utility Systems Integrator or SCADA Technician.
  • Directs or calibrates all automatic chemical feeding systems; calibrates all continuous monitoring equipment; responds to all alarms related to equipment malfunctions and failures.

Experience and Training

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least six months of advanced study or training at a community college or a vocational, business, technical or correspondence school is preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in treatment plant operational activities or in a similar position.

Certificates and Licenses Required

  • Class B Surface Water Operator's License or Class B Wastewater Operator's License issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality;
  • Class C Driver's License
