This role is responsible for all phases of aircraft surface preparation and paint application, including mixing materials, working with chemicals, and following detailed specifications. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and a strong team player capable of working in a dynamic aviation environment. - - Position Responsibilities - - Coat aircraft surfaces using paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin, or other materials with brushes, rollers, spray guns, and related equipment Remove existing coatings using liquid paint removers and scrapers Prepare surfaces by sanding, smoothing, masking, and treating aluminum surfaces with acid solutions to ensure paint adhesion Mix and handle paint and chemicals per specifications Paint insignia, lettering, and numerals using stencils Read and interpret DPS documentation, engineering drawings, and specifications Work closely with team members to share responsibilities and complete assignments efficiently Follow all safety, environmental, and quality procedures - - Physical Requirements & Work Environment - - Lift less than 25 lbs. (occasional lifting of 21–35 lbs.) Ability to bend, twist, crawl, crouch, kneel, reach, climb/balance, and stand for extended periods Frequent overhead reaching (3–6 hrs.) Frequent walking and standing on flat and uneven surfaces Occasional climbing on 3–12 ft. ladders or stands Frequent exposure to noise Exposure to metals, plastics, sealants, solvents, and atmospheric conditions Work on elevated platforms and from heights using fall protection Use required personal protective equipment (face, eye, ear, hand, and arm protection) - - Required Skills & Qualifications - - 1 year of experience performing aircraft painting responsibilities listed above 1 year of hands-on experience sanding, taping, mixing materials, and applying paint High School Diploma or GED Ability to work rotating shifts Experience reading blueprints and technical document specifications Experience working from heights using fall protection equipment Ability to complete and maintain Fall Protection Certification Ability to handle, use, and dispose of hazardous materials safely Strong understanding of detailed written and verbal work instructions Regular and predictable attendance required - - Note: - - This position requires compliance with OSHA Fall Protection Regulations (1926, 1910.66, 1910 Subpart D). Certification is a contingency of assignment. - - Training Requirements - - Successful completion of required training (OJT and/or formal classroom training) is a contingency of assignment - - Preferred Qualifications - - 1 year of experience working on military and/or commercial aircraft platforms 1 year of experience working with hazardous chemicals Benefits offered to vary by the contract.
