- Job Summary
Under general supervision, is assigned to a City Department to assist in general administrative functions for the purpose of developing a working knowledge of a targeted area in municipal government. Performs internship duties in accordance with benchmarked professional positions. Level of duties performed depends on type of program and degree program the student is enrolled in. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment. Exercises no supervision.
This position is an "unclassified" position and has no disciplinary appeal rights to the Municipal Civil Service Commission. This position is likewise subject to at-will employment status and can be terminated at any time for any reason.

- Learns about area of career interest by observing and assisting professionals in the assigned department where work will be performed.
- May assist in the coordination, administration and/or monitoring of specific programs.
- May assist with collecting and organizing data for research.
- May assist with performing analysis and prepare data for reports.
- May suggest solutions to existing problems and discuss recommendations with administrative personnel.
- Assists with special projects as assigned.
- Job Requirements
Student Intern I:
- Graduation from high school or a General Education Development (GED) Certificate.
- Must be enrolled in a U.S. Department of Education accredited Associate's Degree program, vocational or technical school, with the first year of the program completed.
Student Intern II:
- Graduation from high school or a General Education Development (GED) Certificate.
- Must be enrolled in U.S. Department of Education accredited undergraduate degree program.
Student Intern III:
- Graduation from high school or a General Education Development (GED) Certificate.
- Must be enrolled in a U.S. Department of Education accredited graduate or post graduate degree program.
