  • Experience facilitating risk management and/or crisis response for events/programs.
  • Experience building partnerships and collaborating across departments in a university setting, community organizations, or non-profit organizations.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with community service, service-learning, and civic engagement concepts and programs.

Job Description
The Coordinator for Volunteer and Community Service Programs as a member of the Leadership & Service Unit of Student Involvement and Engagement (SI&E), is responsible for developing and implementing volunteer and community service programs that support student involvement, sense of belonging, and student success. The Coordinator, with the Associate Director for Leadership Development & Service, develops comprehensive educational volunteer and community service initiatives that enhance student learning and supports skills development and career readiness. The position reports to the Associate Director for Leadership and Service.
Job Duties
Volunteer and Community Service Programs (60%)
  • Create, develop, and execute the signature volunteer and community service programs such as Bobcat Build’s Big Event, Service Saturday, and Bobcat Break.
  • Manage the tracking and documentation of student community service hours submitted through the designated student engagement platform.
  • Provide leadership, strategic direction and assessment alongside the Associate Director for Leadership & Service for the areas of community engagement programming.


Administration, Budget Management, Supervision, Advising, and Event Planning (20%)
  • Responsible for the supervision, coaching, and performance management of four Leadership & Service Council members.
  • Coordinate and execute the Leadership & Service Council training for the fall and spring semesters in collaboration with the Coordinator for Leadership Development Programs.
  • Advise one cohort of the Texas Leadership Scholars Program (TLSP) and attend associated programs.
  • Coordinate and execute the Leadership & Service Mixer during the fall semester in collaboration with the Coordinator for Leadership Development Programs.
  • Manage allocated budget for volunteer and community service programs.
  • Ensure fiscal responsibility, effective planning and use of resources, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and University policies and procedures.
  • Create end-of-year reports for assigned functional area.

Leadership Development and Civic Engagement Programs (10%)
  • Assist and support leadership development programs such as Bobcats LEAD.
  • Assist and support civic engagement and voter registration initiatives.
  • Facilitate leadership development workshops and requests for students, faculty, and staff.
Other Duties (10%)
  • Actively participate in departmental programs and projects designed to support the mission and goals of the university, division, and department.
  • Serve on committees and task forces, as assigned.
  • Other duties as requested or required, whether or not specifically mentioned in this job description.
