ABOUT

The Onboarding Specialist is responsible for leading the successful onboarding of new talent. This position reports to the Assistant Director, Talent Management and Compensation, and works with the Talent Acquisition Partners to ensure the successful completion of the hiring and onboarding processes. Candidates should have excellent customer service and communication skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to manage time.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manages the new hire experience from offer acceptance to start date.
  • Reviews personnel actions and ensures accuracy and appropriate communication of pertinent information to all applicable College departments. Enter personnel action changes in the database.
  • Coordinates and processes new employee paperwork, ensuring that all required employment information is received and entered in the database promptly, before the start date.
  • Communicates with new hires to confirm start dates and provide onboarding instructions.
  • Follows up with hiring manager(s) to ensure completion of onboarding processes promptly.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact during the onboarding phase, offering personalized support to candidates.
  • Participates in new hire orientation sessions to introduce the College’s mission, culture, and policies, and provides a welcoming experience.
  • Attends and participates in job fairs, community activities, and other public or departmental recruitment-related events that may occur after hours and on weekends.
  • Identifies and develops relationships with key organizations and associations to help create a more diverse employee population.
  • Optimizes candidate touchpoints to ensure a positive candidate experience.


Secondary Responsibilities

  • Supports the front desk by answering phones and greeting visitors when needed.

WHO YOU ARE

Required Education

Associate’s Degree in business or a related field


Required Experience

One year of experience working in human resources


Preferred Education

Bachelor’s Degree in business, human resources, or a related field


Additional Job-Specific Requirements

  • Proficient with HR databases, including applicant tracking system and candidate management system.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
