Job Summary

The classroom aide has diverse responsibilities in support of a Head Start Center operation. These include general maintenance of food service areas, and assisting the center staff with classroom activities. This position is supervised by the Area Service Manager.

Major Duties

  • Responsible for the maintenance of all classrooms, kitchens, and bathrooms.
  • Responsible for washing dishes and disposal of trash.
  • Assists the teacher with classroom activities and decorations of the classroom.
  • Rotates to centers as the need arises.
  • Assists with outdoor activities and supervision.
  • Performs other related duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.

Occasionally

  • Moving oneself in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces.
  • Moving to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Adjusting or moving objects up to 30-40 pounds in all directions.
  • Driving a County vehicle or a personal vehicle.
  • Working in low temperatures.
  • Working in high temperatures.
  • Working in noisy environments.
  • Working in small and/or enclosed spaces.
  • Working in adverse environmental conditions is expected.
  • Light work that includes carrying objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Medium work that includes carrying objects up to 50 pounds.

Constantly
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.

Other Requirements/Information
  • Drug and Alcohol Policy applies to this job. Pre-employment drug/alcohol and criminal background checks are required.
  • Must have a driver's license and insurable transportation, or obtain a DL within 3 months.
  • This position is not covered by Civil Service, therefore, is subject to all the Webb County Policies, and Webb County Head Start addendum.

Valid Texas Driver’s License -
- If the applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver’s License must be obtained prior to employment.
